Annual Williams Games and Dessert Extravaganza

A couple years ago we asked the Moons to come and join us for dessert on Thanksgiving.  Except for one year when they traveled to Georgia, they have come over for dessert and games, and both Chad and Jamie have even brought their families with them.  Fun times!  This year, we were privileged to have Jamie's family--her mom, dad, and brother.  They always make things fun!  They are kind of like my second family, so I was pleased they were in town and could join us!

The dessert table:  pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, strawberry cake, and cherry pie.  We don't mess around when it comes to desserts!

Livi and Brody started playing together right away...and I wasn't surprised that it was at the fridge!  Since Livi was old enough to walk, everytime she comes over, she plays with the magnets on my fridge (or dishwasher).  Brody loves them as well, so it was their "meeting spot". =)

Brody thought he might like to join in on the adult conversation between the dads....

...but since all they were talking about was over his head, he and Livi decided that the giraffe tunnel was more entertaining.

BUT, they did have some conversation of their own!  And then Brody wanted Livi's sippy cup!

After he was content with his own cup, the two of them ran back and forth through the living room and kitchen over and over and over and over....they had the BEST time!!!  It was so fun watching them because finally my little bitty baby boy is old enough to play with my once little bitty "niece"!  How amazing!!

(pardon the red eyes....)

Don't you just wish you could join them??? =)

Brody rested a few minutes by hanging out with the adults again.

He spent time in his cousin's lap....Josiah adores Brody!! =)

Livi came over for some rest as well...

Steven (Jamie's brother), Nana Debi (aka Nana--Jamie's momma), and Jamie

Love this pic of Jamie!

I love BOTH of my moms very much and am so grateful God has blessed me with two who love me just as much!!

Sparky (Jamie's daddy) and Jerry. Jerry is ready for the upcoming game!!! =)

Every year since we started the annual Thanksgiving tradition at our house, we have GAMES!  Welsch's and Williams's LOVE games, so it was just fitting!  We used to do a checkers tournament, but we had more and more people attend, so it got long and we needed to come up with something else to get everyone involved at once, and that was a little shorter.  Dave is very creative when it comes to games, so he and some of his family came up with a "card toss" game, as well as a "paper toss" game.  The Paper Toss has been the game that's stuck around year after year...and so the tradition continues!

Brody demonstrates what you have to do:  make 3 balls out of a sheet of newspaper...

...then simply get the ball in the basket!  Sound easy enough??

Of COURSE it's easy!!

Livi was the keeper of the basket...but Brody wanted the balls out of it first.

Who's ready??

Livi's in position.  Any ball that's thrown, she is to give it back to that person.

Every round you have three shots and the object is to make the most balls in the basket that you can.  At the end of each round, the person/people with the lowest score is out.  The rest who are in the game  shoot again from a further distance.  Then, the same rules apply again.  The rounds continue until there is only one person left.  Let's start the game!

(Mary couldn't believe she made in two balls!  She got to go to the second round!)

ALWAYS has on a game face!!

Mom always has fun just watching and doesn't usually play....

Such concentration!!!

Obviously Chad made it to the final round...he's WAY back in the hallway!

Poor Brody....poor, poor Brody!  As I have mentioned before, he is TERRIFIED of loud sounds.  I guess cheering and clapping amongst a relatively small (and well known) group of people lands under that category.  He cried and fussed the entire time....

=(

I'm sure you want to know who the winner was, don't you??

Well, it was.....

Davey!!  Congrats!!!
I WILL have to give props to Jamie's family...for never playing before, they all did SO WELL! =)

After the game, it was time for Brody's bath.

You can see he is still upset...it took Dave and I a long time to get to sleep.  We finally determined it had to be his teeth because he refused to drink his bottle and screamed and screamed.  Eventually he calmed down, and we got him to sleep.  I always feel so bad for him when his teeth hurt!  Thank goodness for Motrin and Tylenol!

After Brody was in bed, Livi had no one to play with.  I was quite surprised that she asked for carrots to munch on...She and Mary must have had an entertaining conversation! =)

Mr. GQ right before he left....... ;-)

After everyone was gone, Dave FINALLY got to do what he had been dreaming of doing all day...

Sit, relax, and watch some football....oh, and fall asleep while doing it all! =)

We had a wonderful time with Jamie and Chad's family!!  So glad they got to come!  It's nice when your families just mesh so well together and there's no awkwardness.  Greatful for good friends, too!  Oh, and in case you were wondering, all the desserts were DELICIOUS, too (and, yes, I had more than one!)!  =)
