First Library Visit

Lora and the kids invited Brody and I to go with them to the Toddler Class at one of the local libraries today.  Although I had known that the library had classes for kids, the one I had attended a couple summers ago with Livi and Chloe would NOT have kept his attention so we haven't been to the library yet. The good thing about living in a large town is that there are several libraries to choose from, so while the one closest to our house doesn't fit our needs, the one Lora invited us to across town did.  Brody had a BLAST!!  There were so many kids/parents there and he got to walk around the entire time--PERFECT.  The lady read them a short book (a "Big Book" for my teacher friends out there, so it really captured his attention...), they sang several songs (where they got to shake an "egg shaker" the whole time--right up Brody's alley!!), and made a craft (this part is at the end in a different room and is optional).  As soon as weekly classes start up again in January, we will be there!

When we first arrived, Brody didn't know what to think....there were so many kids/parents in the room, along with stuffed animals and carpet squares everywhere.  Almost sensory overload!  Mikey was there to help him feel comfortable though, and in no time, he acted like he owned the place! =)

Tori Mac had been there several times before so she already knew the ropes...

Checking out the carpet squares...

Who ARE all these people??

He had just been to the doctor and had his blood drawn (which was obviously an experience...) so every time he saw his band-aid it started tears all over again!  Fortunately, there was so much going on that he didn't cry this time when he saw his band-aid!

Daddy went with us to the doctor, then drove to work only to be told this was his day off work!  YAY!!!!  Apparently there was some miscommunication somewhere because Dave ALWAYS knows what day he is off work--he looks forward to it.  But that was our gain because he got to go to the library with us.  He enjoyed watching Brody in his element.

Watching the pictures as they sang a song...

All these people are STILL here??

Tori enjoyed the drawers the whole time...Dave had to help keep her from playing with them since he was sitting close to the front of the room.

Mikey is such a good friend.  He got Brody a shaker so Brody could participate!

Tori and Lora enjoying the songs

He had the BEST TIME with that egg shaker and did NOT want to have to give it back!!

I've included some videos of Brody's fun at the library while we were in the classroom.  Notice how Brody just walks all over the room the whole time while looking around in a clueless fashion.  Hilarious!    I love seeing him in new situations and his reactions to them.  He will know exactly what to do next time though!  Oh, and you get to see how he has perfected his spinning techniques! =)

Intermission: Time to go out in the children's area in the library for craft time.

How hilarious is it that all three of them just happen to have their mouths open???

Brody got to try and color with markers for the very first time.  He got a little on him, but didn't do too badly.

Mikey is getting so good at staying in the lines while coloring these days!

This was picture attempt #3...The first two pictures Dave's eyes were closed and Brody was looking straight at the camera. This one, when Dave finally had his eyes opened, Brody was looking elsewhere.  This happens a lot! =)

Isn't this what EVERY ONE does at the library???

Choosing a book...I was so glad he didn't pull all of them off the shelves like he does at home!!! =)

Dave actually did the craft!  I was super surprised because he's not the crafty one in the family and usually doesn't enjoy it.  He made it for Brody since Brody couldn't really do it himself.

Mmmm....no one ever told me how good markers were!

Silly Mikey showing off his gingerbread boy. =)

Putting the finishing touches on the project.

Oh, thanks, Dad!  This looks cool....what's inside??
Poor Dave had just put it together only to have it ripped apart.  Oh well. This won't be the first time!

Brody's gingerbread boy was a fun toy to play with on the way home.

Here's Brody's first art with markers as a medium!  Not too bad for a 14 1/2 month old!
